Named after one of the most appealing months of the year, it is fitting that October is also one of the most dazzling cafe choices overlooking West Lake.
Competition is fierce on this lake-side stretch of road but ensuring your establishment stands out from the crowd of sameness shouldn’t, in theory, be too hard. October has chosen to catch the eye with moody paint, a plethora of signs, and intelligently placed lights that scale this sizable building. There is a good chance that if you’ve driven, cycled or walked past October, and especially at night, it has already caught your attention.
A huge amount of effort has gone into the interior- perhaps too much effort, actually, as what the overenthusiastic designers have created is a little busy and cluttered. If you’re after a view, the inward spaces of this extensive cafe still make nice rooms for roaming before making your way to one of the brilliant balconies/terraces. Unfortunately the staff have that annoying habit that you probably know only too well: they follow you around making gestures towards the different tables as if without their arm movements you would have no idea at all where to sit. They are friendly, though, so just smile and don’t feel pressured.
